Manitoulin Centennial Manor

A place for families, too.

Practical information to help you stay involved, informed and connected.

Your connection matters.

Volunteers

Family members, friends and community volunteers bring companionship, individual attention and unique skills to the Manor. Volunteers are valued members of the care community, and their ideas and suggestions are welcome.

To find out about volunteering, contact the Activity Director at julie.omnet@exeassist.ca or call 705-368-2710.

Resident Council

All residents are members of Resident Council. The council provides a forum for comments, suggestions, projects and recommendations to administration. Its executive includes a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer.

Relatives, volunteers and other community members may participate on the recommendation of the membership. Families can also ask about Family Council involvement.

Laundry & personal clothing.

The Laundry Department provides clean personal clothing and sanitized linen, normally within 24–48 hours. Families are welcome to take personal laundry home if they prefer.

During admission, staff explain laundry services and clothing labels. All personal clothing should be labelled. Place items needing labels in a bag or suitcase for the laundry aide.

Make your room feel like home.

Residents are encouraged to bring personal possessions such as pictures, a television, radio or suitable furniture. Rooms and shared spaces are cleaned daily, with routines planned to minimize disruption. Headphones are encouraged when using radios and televisions.

Maintenance & electrical safety

Report anything that is not working to the Charge Nurse, who will contact Maintenance. All electrical equipment and appliances must be checked by Maintenance before being used in a resident’s room.

To meet the home’s fire safety standards, extension cords, plug adapters, power bars and Christmas lights are not permitted in resident areas. Speak with staff before bringing equipment into the home.

Respect for beliefs & traditions.

Pastoral care welcomes involvement from denominations represented in the community. Clergy and lay visitors may visit residents of their faith and others who request a visit, always respecting the wishes of residents and their representatives.

Church services, Mass and special or seasonal services are arranged through the home. The calendar at the main entrance lists scheduled services and programs.
